Nearly 50,000 residents of Franklin County, Ohio – home of the city of Columbus, the State’s capital – received incorrect absentee ballots, officials reported Friday. With about 240,000 ballots mailed, that means 1 in 5 voters received an incorrect ballot.
Election officials promised corrected ballots would be mailed within 72 hours.
The error occurred last Saturday when someone changed a setting on a machine that places absentee ballots into their mailing envelopes.
To date, more than 2 million applications for absentee ballots have been received by Ohio’s 88 elections boards. That number is more than the double the applications from the same time four years ago.
