Police Stations and Military Bases Attacked as Protests in Iran Enter Fifth Day

The death toll has risen to 12 people in ongoing protests in Iran.  They began Thursday and have continued for days and have spread to several cities.  The protests originally began over economic hardships in the country but have since taken on a decidedly anti-government tone.

Iranian state television reported that 10 protestors were killed during clashes Sunday night.  Two had been killed in western Iran on Saturday.  Protestors have tried to take over police stations and military bases and images of burning buildings and a fire truck that was apparently attacked and burned have been shown on state TV.  The Iranian government has also blocked access to popular social media apps in an effort to curtail the organizing ability of some activists.
