According to CDC, 70% of Covid19-Positive Patients “Always” Wore Face Masks

Health U.S.

According to a new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 70% of patients who tested positive for Covid19 reported having “always” worn a face mask in the 14 days prior to the onset of symptoms.

Another 14% reported wearing one “often” in that time frame – 11% “sometimes.”

The study was conducted on patients at 11 U.S.-based academic health care facilities who received positive Covid19 test results during the period of July 1–29, 2020.

Interestingly, individuals who had tested positive for Covid were found to be nearly twice as likely to have eaten at a restaurant as a control group included in the study, in the 14 days prior to testing positive. The study did not detail whether the dining was indoor, outdoor or take out.

Of the Covid19-positive patients and the control participants 61.2% reported at least one of the following underlying conditions: cardiac condition, hypertension, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, immunodeficiency, psychiatric condition, diabetes, or obesity.
