Special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly looking into an interaction between first daughter, Ivanka Trump, and a Russian lawyer had on the same day that lawyer met with other members of the Trump family in June 2016.
The lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, met with the president’s son, Don Jr, and others, at Trump Tower on June 9, 2016. Emails show that Donald Trump Jr accepted the meeting on the promise that the campaign would be given damaging information about his father’s political opponent at the time, Hillary Clinton. Veselnitskaya, Trump, as well as other participants, maintain that the only matter that was discussed was a popular adoption program that had previously been cancelled by Russia.
Ivanka Trump did not participate in the meeting, but apparently as Veselnitskaya was leaving the building she spoke briefly with Trump. The interaction occurred in an elevator of Trump Tower. Veselnitskaya, was accompanied by another participant of the meeting, a lobbyist. The interaction consisted only of pleasantries but investigators want to know every contact that the Russian individuals had with the Trump campaign during their visit.
