A train carrying Republican members of Congress to a legislative retreat hit a truck this morning. The train carrying the lawmakers was on its way to West Virginia. Injuries have yet to be reported from people on the train, but authorities expect to report injuries from outside. The train appeared to carrying trash.
The exact number of GOP lawmakers on board the train has yet to be reported as are any injuries.
Republican members were on their way to the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia for a Party retreat, which runs through Friday. Vice President Mike Pence is expected to address the gathering later today and President Trump is scheduled to speak tomorrow.
Updated 2:24 p.m. – Authorities have reported that one person has lost their life as a result of the accident. Another person is seriously injured. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement that there were no serious injuries among members of Congress of their staff.
