Sharpie-Gate: Arizona Voters in Conservative Areas Disenfranchised by Forced Use of Magic Markers

Headlines Politics U.S.

Conservative Arizona voters are claiming disenfranchisement on the basis of being forced to fill their ballots out with Sharpie pens instead of ordinary pens.

Voters claimed that even though ordinary pens were available they were forced, by poll workers, to fill their ballots out with the felt-tip magic markers. That caused ink to bleed through their ballots.

Concerned, they say they asked workers if there would be a problem with machines reading their ballots. They were told there would be none when In fact it rendered their ballots unreadable.

Arizona voters are being urged to check the status of their vote online to ensure it was properly counted.
