Police Making Arrests Weeks After Looting Thanks to Thousands of Hours of Video Footage

Headlines Politics U.S.

Police Departments in cities that months ago were scenes of rioting and looting are making arrests of suspects weeks after their crimes. The arrests are a result of investigations that have been aided by thousands of hours of CCTV footage of the crimes.

Atlantic City, NJ Police Chief Henry White announced several arrests on Thursday pointing to a lengthy investigation that relied heavily on video evidence record by both public and private cameras, according to Philly Voice.

“On June 30, authorities released photos of more than 200 people who they said were involved in criminal acts but whose identities were unknown to the authorities,” the report says. “After following up on every tip and working directly with 57 business owners, police said they have been able to file charges against 95 people.”

The FBI says it also has a program for combing through social media and video footage, to be used to identify suspects.
