Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. faced serious backlash, and President Trump called for a boycott of the company, after it banned employees from displaying “Make America Great Again” hats and “Blue Lives Matter” messages at workplaces.
They did however, allow Black Lives Matter and LGBT attire and messages (“racial justice and equity issues”).
Yesterday, in a reversal, the company said it will allow workers to wear pro-police messages on clothing at work.
“We have clarified our policy to make it clear associates can express support for law enforcement through apparel at Goodyear facilities,” Chairman Rich Kramer said in a statement.
The controversy started when a screen image from a Topeka tire plant worker training session was posted online that showed which messages were allowed and which were prohibited.
