Mitch McConnell to Reach Out to Incoming Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville to Persuade Him Not to Contest Election

Headlines Politics U.S.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (KY) will reportedly attempt to dissuade incoming freshman Senator Tommy Tuberville (AL) from contesting the 2020 election.

Tuberville, along with a growing number of lawmakers, have pledged to object to electors from states where there has been evidence of massive voter fraud when Congress meets in a joint session to vote on those electors on January 6.

“Senate Republicans say Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) will reach out to Sen.-elect Tommy Tuberville (Ala.) in an attempt to avoid a messy floor fight next month over finalizing the results of the Electoral College vote,” The Hill reports.

It has been reported that McConnell is currently orchestrating an override of President Trump’s veto of the Defense budget bill which the President issued this week.
