Media watchdog Project Veritas has released an undercover video purportedly showing CNN Technical Director Charlie Chester describing how the network skewed news coverage of President Trump in order to see him defeated in the general election.
“Look what we did, we [CNN] got Trump out. I am 100% going to say it, and I 100% believe that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out…I came to CNN because I wanted to be a part of that,” Chester is heard saying.
Chester goes on to speak about how when it came to personal health, for example, the network slanted coverage to call President Trump’s wellbeing into question while making Joe Biden look healthy and vibrant. Chester can be heard saying he believed those efforts amounted to propaganda.
“[Trump’s] hand was shaking or whatever, I think. We brought in so many medical people to tell a story that was all speculation – that he was neurologically damaged, and he was losing it. He’s unfit to – you know, whatever. We were creating a story there that we didn’t know anything about. That’s what – I think that’s propaganda,” Chester says.
Chester added that Biden running for the benefit of the news cameras during the presidential campaign is scripted political theater.
“He is definitely — the whole thing of [Biden] running during the entire – like run for the campaign. Showing him jogging is obviously deflection of his age and they’re [CNN] trying to make it like, ‘Oh, I’m healthy,’” he said.
“Is that what we did? I don’t know. Like what do you mean?” a Project Veritas journalist can be heard asking Chester.
“We would always show shots of him [Biden] jogging and that [he’s] healthy, you know, and him in aviator shades. Like you paint him as a young geriatric,” he responds.
ITN has reached out to CNN as well as several members of Congress for comment on the story. We’ve also inquired with the State Attorney General’s office in New York (where CNN is headquartered) to ask whether any laws were broken and whether any investigations into CNN’s behavior are being planned.
In an email to ITN, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) responded by saying they do not “speculate as to the legality of any set of circumstances.”
“Potential violations may be brought to the Commission’s attention through the complaint process. This process enables anyone to file a sworn complaint alleging violations and explaining the basis for the allegations,” it added.
The next narrative on CNN’s agenda to be pushed, according to Chester, is going to be climate change.
“It’s going to be [CNN’s] focus. Like our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without saying it, that’s what it was, right? So, our next thing is going to be climate change awareness.”
“What does that look like?” Chester is asked on the recording.
“I don’t know. I’m not sure. I have a feeling that it’s going to be like, constantly showing videos of decline in ice, and weather warming up, and like the effects it’s having on the economy…” Chester responds.
“Who decides that?” Chester is asked.
“Head of the network.”
“Who is that? Is that [Jeff] Zucker?”
“Zucker, yeah. I imagine that he’s got his council and they’ve all like, discussed, like where they think–”
“So, that’s like the next–”
“Pandemic-like story that we’ll beat to death, but that one’s got longevity. You know what I mean? Like there’s a definitive ending to the pandemic. It’ll taper off to a point that it’s not a problem anymore. Climate change can take years, so [CNN will] probably be able to milk that quite a bit,” Chester says.
“You think it’s going to be just like — a lot of like, fear for the climate?”
“Yeah. Fear sells,” he responds.
So what they’re saying is what conservatives already knew, it’s their liberal base that is too stubborn to open their eyes and see what’s really happening here. What he said CNN did is absolutely criminal, and those who are reporting misinformation on purpose should be held accountable to the law. They are destroying this country and making decisions based off of their own personal beliefs. They are inciting violence and bring back issues we were mostly recovered from decades ago, by brainwashing the public with their lies. This needs to be addressed immediately.
