Fake doses of the Covid19 vaccine made by Pfizer may have been discovered in Mexico and Poland.
In Mexico around 80 people have reportedly paid $1,000 per injection for a shot advertised as Pfizer’s vaccine while In Poland vials filled with what appeared to be anti-wrinkle treatment were being passed off as Covid vaccines. The man suspected of attempting to pass off the fake vaccines in Poland was apprehended before any of the injections were administered.
“Pfizer has identified counterfeit versions of its COVID-19 vaccine in Mexico and Poland,” Pfizer said in a statement. “We are cognizant that in this type of environment – fueled by the ease and convenience of e-commerce and anonymity afforded by the Internet – there will be an increase in the prevalence of fraud, counterfeit and other illicit activity as it relates to vaccines and treatments for COVID-19.”
“No legitimate vaccine is sold online,” the statement added.
Patients were recently injected with a saline solution instead of a Covid vaccine at a Walgreens pharmacy in North Carolina. And in March a Kroger clinic in Virginia mistakenly injected customers with empty syringes instead of the actual vaccines. Kroger originally believed the customers were injected with saline and called it an “honest mistake.” It would later be discovered the syringes were empty.
