Michigan Secretary of State Suddenly Takes Interest in Dominion Case a Day After Forensic Examination Takes Place

Headlines Politics U.S.

The office of Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is considering intervening in a case in which a judge has granted inspections of Dominion Systems voting machines.

The plaintiff in the case is William Bailey, a resident of Antrim County, Michigan. Bailey says he has obtained evidence that shows voting in the county on Nov. 3 may have been compromised.

A government cybersecurity task force conducted a forensic examination of 22 Antrim County machines yesterday.

Today Secretary of State Benson’s office sent a letter to Bailey’s attorney, Matt DePerno, asking for permission to intervene in the case.

“As the chief election officer with supervisory control over the Antrim county election officials, [Benson] has an interest in the claims in this case…” a letter from her office to DePerno reads.

Just yesterday Benson claimed the 2020 election in Michigan was “as secure as it’s ever been.”
